I tried more times to live without a daily page, but it is not working. I have to say my day and only my day with lot of details. What everything has the daily plan contain?
1. The schedule
I use the time blocking method with colors. First I write all my appiontments to the correspondent time slots, and block the time for them. Not only the appointment, but the traveling time also if I need it (green). I block out "chill" time too: when I'm preparing for the day, eating, and the evenings (yellow) - I don't plan for this time nothing if possible. I mark with colors when my kids are home. This gives me a good overview, when I am alone at home and can do anything needs to my attention (blue). When kids are home - anything can happens.
I have a strickt routine - this helps to keep things in hand. I have a washing schedule, I keep myself to it, even if I don't have too much of that kind clothes. Of course, if something happens I can postpone it. I have also daily routine. I try to load the washer after everyone left, than make my daily review, and my daily work routine (like answering emails). I write these tasks to the beginning of the day. If I have an appointment, then I schedule those tasks for other times. Where I write a task don't means I will done that time, and of course not every tasks need half hour. But writing near to the time what I have to do makes me easier to choose the proper task.
I write other tasks to the list I want to make that day - this is hard not to write too much, and not to write, what I might want to make it. If I don't write the "might" tasks to the list, they won't never done :) So, this is always a big game for me.
4. To know
I have stuff on my daily plan, with I don't have to do anything. My daughter goes to dentist - I will ask her after than what is the next appointment. All kids have a color, I mark the appointment with it.
Tasks also might need informations - if I want to call someone I might want to write the phone number here.
Do you have a good tip for the daily plan?
